* 2007 Golf Day * October 23 - Federal Golf Course



It was another great day at Federal Golf Course on October 23 for this year's Phase Three Superannuation Golf Day - raising money for SportzCare ACT. Over $1,000 was raised through people's registration fees, some auction items and through shooting at targets on one of the golf holes! All this money goes directly to SportzCare to help the service continue free of charge.
SportzCare ACT would like to thank all those who participated in the day and helped to raise money for the organisation. Special thanks also to our sponsors Phase Three for all their efforts and to Seears Workwear for the items they dontated. SportzCare would also like to acknowledge the ongoing support of the Raiders who particpated in the day and provided for the auction.

Awareness Campaign and Sponsorship Drive - Winter '07:

SportzCare ACT is mid-way through intensive efforts in Canberra to promote the service and establish sponsorship partnerships. A large part of this will involve visiting many local sporting authorities to gain endorsement for SportzCare ACT services amongst local athletes. Major licensed clubs are also being approached to ask for support to help fund some of the essential needs that SportzCare has to be able to provide its services free of charge. Thank you to those sponsors who have already come on board and to those sporting organisations who have given their endorsement. SportzCare ACT Media Launch:

Belconnen Basketball Stadium was the venue on Monday night, February 12, where SportzCare ACT officially launched itself into the Canberra sporting community. A number of people were on hand to help promote the new service - including Alan Tongue, Ray Silburn, Eleanor Sharp, Mark Peters, as well as other invited guests and media.

The launch was a great platform to from which to build on the awareness of SportzCare ACT. Already, media coverage has been generated locally on WIN television, MIX 106.3 and FM 104.7's 'Balls 'n' all' program. The Canberra Raiders have been generous in their support as well.

SportzCare ACT/Sports Chaplaincy Australia -
Combined Training Course:

SportzCare ACT will be joining with Australia's number one governing body for sports chaplains, to present a training course for people interested in serving as sports chaplains with SportzCare ACT in the future. The course will run for four consecutive Monday nights, from January 29, 2007, at the Belconnen Basketball Stadium.
